How We Got Engaged

Claire's version of events:

Claire had spent November and December working in London on business and was very excited that Jelani was able to fly over to spend Christmas with her and her family in York. She had no idea that once they arrived in York Jelani was planning on asking her parents for their blessing to ask Claire to marry him. Christmas morning went on as usual until just before lunchtime, when Jelani got down on one knee, and asked Claire if she would do him the honor of becoming his wife. Of course she said yes, and since her parents had known the plan since the evening before, they already had the champagne on ice!

​I proposed. She said yes. The end.  :o)  Jusssst kidddding... well that is what happened, but I'll tell you my story. You might recognize the theme. So, herrrrrrre we goooo:

Now THIS is a story all about how

My life got flipped, turned upside down. 

Now I'd like to take a minute, so just sit right there. 

I'll tell you how I became engaged to my beautiful Claire.

Innnn southwest Houston, born and raised,

Doing homework is how is spent most of my days.

Calculating, contemplating, wishing I was cool, 

But I did shoot b-ball and loved to play pool.

When I graduated college, things were all good!

I moved back to my old neighborhood.

I got a good paying job and to my mom I declared

That "I'm moving to my own place to get outta your hair."

I started looking for a girl and when I found Claire

I could see that we meshed. No one else would compare!

If anything I could say that this all is rare, 

And thought "One day we'll marry. We make such a great pair!"

....

I... pulled... up to Robbins Brothers around December the 8th,

And yelled to the jeweler, "This ring couldn't be greater!" 

In the United Kingdom, I proposed to Claire.

She said yes, and now we're walking on air.
